This gallery is a compilation of my favourite photos from when I traveled to Tajikistan in the summer of 2019.
In 2019 I got invited by USAID to go on a hiking adventure and photography assignment in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan. I honestly didn’t know much about Tajikistan, let alone about the north-western region of the country where the Fann Mountains are located..
The Fann Mountains is one of the best trekking destinations in Central Asia. The scenery is just incredibly beautiful and there are a lot of hiking trails connecting steep mountain passes with stunning alpine lakes. The gallery below include some of these alpine lakes: the Seven Lakes, the Kulikalon Lakes and the Allaudin Lakes.

All my Tajikistan pictures are taken with my Panasonic Lumix DC-G90 mirrorless camera. Whenever I embark on a hiking adventure, I’m always taking this weather-sealed camera with me. It’s compact, light and waterproof, suitable to photograph in the unpredictable and often challenging weather conditions of the mountains. I used the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 lens as this all-around zoom lens is also weather-sealed and covers a large range of focal lengths, from wide-angle landscapes to telephoto-framing of distant subjects .
